Year: 2020.
Area: 90 m².
WHO
Led by yaser rashid shomali and yasin rashid shomali, the design team expresses influence from its natural context to curate the contemporary cabin dwelling, a reinterpretation of the traditional A-frame typology.
WHY
The architecture is ideated to present the luxury of a contemporary space that snuggles within nature and wherein every space one can feel the passage of snow, light and rain.
WHEN
We will build it for ourselves soon and do also have clients in some countries. The first build will start in Australia and the next one in the United states. We are imagining Kujdane in lovely locations out of the hustle and bustle of the cities.
WHERE
Located in Gilan province, a beautiful Iranian region along the coast of the Caspian Sea, the house is envisioned around forest covered mountains and plenty of rivers. The idea, as per the architects, was to change the old fashioned and rigid style of A frame spaces to create an experiential setting. The architecture is ideated to present the luxury of a contemporary space that snuggles within nature and wherein every space one can feel the passage of snow, light and rain.
HOW
It has a compact, duplex-style, open-layout interior. The upper level houses the bedroom and the study, while the lower level has an open kitchen and living area. The lower floor also extends to a small outdoor deck with a staircase leading to the ground level. The cabin has a standing seam metal roofing system and a wood linear ceiling. The wood along with the muted-grey interiors create a warm and cosy, homely ambiance. Additionally, the cabin is well-appointed with modern appliances and comforts.
Summary
The reason we designed the 'Kujdane' Cabin with a centralised core is so that residents continue to feel one with nature even though they are inside the house. While we were inspired by the traditional triangle roof of every A-frame chalet, we have deconstructed the style and expressed it in our own unique way.
